Every once in a while an opportunity comes along that feels like a dream. This was certainly one of those circumstances. My local community paper, The Southwest Connector, asked me to be their first guest in their brand new conversation series, “Let’s Connect.”
Wow. To say I feel honored — and to be honest, completely blown away — would be an understatement.
First off, the Southwest Connector and I have much in common — our goal is to CONNECT community through words, stories and shared experiences. CONNECTION is THE key — which is why just this week I changed my tagline from “Creating Sentences that Sparkle & Flow” to “Connecting Hearts Through Stories.” That matches my mission — the WHY behind my writing — so much more.
And so, last Friday on a sunny and beautiful morning at the lovely art gallery Everett & Charlie — which showcases beautiful art from so many talented Minnesota artists — I sat down with Eric Ortiz of the Southwest Connector and chatted about children’s books, writing, parenthood, mental health and living in Minneapolis (truly ALL my favorite things!). It was so much fun, and the fact that we were surrounded by such breathtaking art made it even more wonderful.
I’m so, SO honored to have been asked — I’m still pinching myself — and will remain ever so grateful to the Southwest Connector for this wonderful experience.
Here’s the video of our interview, and for those local to Minneapolis, you MUST go check out Everett & Charlie in Linden Hills! I will definitely be stopping in often!
