Brave Voice Activities
The Brave Voice Bubble and Brave Voice Comic Strip activities encourage kids to think about different situations where they might need to speak up and how they can do so with confidence.

Downloadable Free Activities to Encourage Kids to Speak Up!

Speaking up for yourself can be tough—especially for kids who are still learning how to express their thoughts, needs, and feelings. That’s why I wrote Stella’s Brave Voice, a story about a little girl who finds the courage to speak up, even when it feels difficult.

If you have a child who sometimes struggles to use their voice, I’ve created two fun and engaging free resources to help them practice: the Brave Voice Bubble Worksheet and the Brave Voice Comic Strip! These activities encourage kids to think about different situations where they might need to speak up and how they can do so with confidence.

Free Resource #1: Brave Voice Bubble Worksheet

This worksheet presents everyday situations where a child might need to advocate for themselves—like asking for help, telling a friend how they feel, or standing up for themselves. Each scenario includes a speech bubble where kids can write or draw what they would say to use their brave voice.

Free Resource #2: Brave Voice Comic Strip

Through storytelling and creativity, this 3-panel comic strip template helps kids visualize themselves speaking up. They can draw and write about a time when they used their brave voice or imagine a character (like Stella!) practicing self-advocacy in a tricky situation.

Why Practicing a Brave Voice Matters

When kids learn to express themselves clearly and confidently, they build self-esteem, resilience, and strong communication skills. Practicing with tools like these can make speaking up feel less scary and more natural over time.
